Thank you all so very much for your support, your patience, and your belief in our CheatCode Compendium Project! We are proud to announce that we have already chosen all of our authors, have given them the instruction they need inorder to write the targeted and focused articles that we know you want to read, and I also wanted you to know that Cyril Lachen from Defunct Games will have the books Foreward done very soon!
In terms of all of the behind the scenes stories from my personal involvement in the games industry, I will be sending the book I wrote personally within a week or so, Im just tweaking how it ends since retro games are only getting hotter, so thats soon to be checked off the list. In terms of the Game selection for the Top 100, I can report that we are set on the top 92, of the Top 100 Best Retro Games (and have already gathered all the codes, walkthroughs, summaries, stories, and facts about the games, but we are really struggling with which of the last 8 are truly a cut above the more than 500 of the next games. Its so hard because we have hundreds and hundreds of retro games that simply cannot fit in the Compendium, but of course will be included in the digital archive that we are now calling the Shark-vault.
Within a few days you will all receive our first survey, which will allow you awesome supporters to pick up something that you may have missed the first time, or be able to purchase a extra book copy or two for gifts, or a tshirt if you so desire, and we will of course be absolutely open to any of your referrals and we are hoping that late pledges and orders will continue for another few months while we write and finalize everything.
From a logistics standpoint, we have figured out the most cost effective printing and shipping methods, so please be on the look out for a shipping charge soon, so we stay ahead of that, and lastly we sure would like some feedback on what we should launch next because so many of you have requested that we go deeper into the underground/murky hardware hacking, modding and reverse engineering space, and we are thinking that we can launch this book very soon after we complete the editing and final review on the Compendium. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, but Im thinking about a book that is dead focused on the geniuses and their lost art of hardware reverse engineering which cracked open everything from radar detectors and game consoles to Voip and printer cartridges, all with a focus on helping the consumer by helping to create third party products that busted monopolies or at least created cheaper alternatives. Game Genie and GameShark were a demonstrable part of that, But Im thinking about a book that goes deep underground into the Taiwan/UK/USA processes and people and not that much has been written about it, so were excited to work on this with you!
Also wanted to give everyone a progress report on other projects, we are very close to having the first GameShark character based comic book collection (Issue zero) done, and if that is a hit, we might just make a retro game out of it!
Additionally, I wanted to report that we are also making huge progress in the design of 2 amazing Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 peripherals that will help us re enter the peripheral space where we once dominated with products like HandyBoy for GameBoy and ProgramPad, and we are approximately 6 months from having the working prototype fully demonstrable for the RetroShark, the first new GameShark peripheral since 2003!
Sorry for the run on sentences, Im just so pleased to be a part of this GameShark community and I appreciate every one of you so much and I promise to keep everyone informed and kept up to date with our progress in filling all of the orders weve received thus far and new ones that keep coming in. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it feels great to be back in the game!
